Heritage Days...

we have a yearly festival here called Heritage Days. Basically different cultures put up a tent with food, some trinkets, and put on a show.

SHOWS:
just some of the shows put on...

after listening to this Brazilian group, i had to buy a CD for the pipes and guitar and upbeat music

the pretty fountain at the italia booth

i saw this lady walk by and thought i'd snap a shot as we didn't get to see the show

FOOD:
every year we always get the spanokapita from the Greek pavilion. its just so tasty there. and the roasted corn (available at a few pavilions). its soooo good. about a foot long, roasted then the husks stripped down to provide a handle, then dipped in butter. mmmm

we try to sample something new every year and this we tried the Portugese grilled smelt. oh. my. god. kay i'm not a huge fish fan, but with dishes like this, my range of fish dishes is expanding.

the fish (as far as we could tell) are brushed with oil and coated in coarse salt then grilled

we also tried some ethiopian food. spicy meat with their spongey bread. this we've eaten before at an ethiopian restaurant, but was a new treat at the Festival.

WILDLIFE:
kay not wildlife, just some of birdies. the park has a huge pond, not only full of paddle boaters, but ducks of all dorks. the pond is frozen during the winter and becomes a huge gathering spot for skater. got a few obligatory shots.
